Delaware Youth Center

The 26th Annual Delaware Youth Center River Race will take place on Sunday, July 21, 2024, along the beautiful Delaware River. With over 400 participants ranging from ages 3 to 89, we welcome runners and walkers of all ages and are excited to see both new and familiar faces again this year. Our race boasts some of the most scenic views in New York State with a fast, flat course along the Delaware River, perfect for personal records. 

RACE DETAILS:

• Date: Sunday, July 21st, 2024
• Distances: 5K Run/Walk; 10K Run; and Virtual Run/Walk
• Time: Walkers start time 8:15am; Runners start time 8:30am
• Location: Delaware Youth Center, 8 Creamery Road, Callicoon, NY
• T-shirts for the first 400 registrants
• Award ceremony and raffle drawing at 10:00am on race day
• Awards for top three Female/Male runners and by age group
• Awards for top three Female/Male walkers
• Packet pickup on Saturday, July 20, 1:00pm - 4:00pm at the Delaware Youth Center 
• Same day registration 7:00am - 8:00am 
• Bagels and fruit after the race 
• Strollers are welcome; Dogs are not permitted.

All proceeds benefit the Delaware Youth Center.

The Delaware Youth Center River Race is one of the largest and most vital fundraisers for our facility. This funding allows us to operate the facility and keep the Youth Center open for another generation of Callicoon-area kids.

Gary A. Winglovitz 

The Gary A. Winglovitz Virtual Race began in 2019, named for one of our own: Gary Winglovitz, a kid who grew up in Cochecton and spent his childhood at the Delaware Youth Center. Gary died in 2014 at 41, and his family and friends have come out in force ever since to run the River Race in his memory.  

Here’s how the virtual race works:  

• Choose your distance and choose your course 
• Run or walk anytime between July 20 and August 3 
• Share photos of your virtual run, and tag the Delaware Youth Center on social media 
• Support the Delaware Youth Center from anywhere in the world! 
• Packet pick up July 20, 1:00pm to 4:00pm 
• Want your packet mailed? Please add $7.50 donation to your registration to cover the cost. 
• Want to record your time? You’ll receive an email about a week before the race with instructions, and a link to the results page to see how you placed. Don’t want to upload your time? That’s fine too! 

In the past we’ve had participants as far away as Lima, Peru; Malaga, Spain; and Sydney, Australia in our virtual race. This year, we hope to see you join us from wherever you are!
