Welcome to the Delaware Youth Center...
Nestled on the shore of the Delaware River in the rural hamlet of Callicoon, New York, the Delaware Youth Center has been a central part of its surrounding community for over 70 years. And in that time, we’ve had the honor of touching thousands of lives. Whether they learned to swim in our pool, to fly-fish in our creek, had their first dance at our pavilion, or celebrated their fiftieth wedding anniversary in our hall, chances are that if you ask someone in the community what the Delaware Youth Center has done for them, they’ll have a special story to tell.
We’ve been able to provide all these things and more over the years thanks to the support and generosity of our members. Though we do allow everyone to use the playground and grounds, the Youth Center is not a town park, it is funded and intended for use by our Members, so don’t forget to become a Member soon! Treat yourself to the fun and warm memories that membership provides, and ensure that the Delaware Youth Center continues to touch the community for the next 70 years, and beyond.
Annual Membership Drive and Newsletter.
Where does a year go? So many wonderful programs and improvements happened at the DYC because of your generous contributions last year. The Hall was painted, the swing set improved, the pool hours and Summer Program expanded, new equipment was purchased and needed repairs completed.
And the plans keep coming… With a tremendous team of volunteer Board Members running the DYC, the ideas continue to flow and many new plans are being reviewed. Our operating budget exceeds $150,000 annually and this funding all comes from memberships, grants, and donations. That’s why this annual membership drive is so important. If you use the DYC, have played on the fields, enjoyed the playground as a child, or just want to make sure it remains for generations to come, please join now
Our biggest hurdle in addition to funding is help. We are in serious need of new volunteers willing to take on some of the responsibilities. Though we are never short of ideas and new plans, we continue to struggle to complete all the projects due to lack of involvement.
To become a volunteer, stop by the Pool House, email firstname.lastname@example.org, or call 845-887-5155.
